Verdae Appoints New Board Member
Greenville, SC — Verdae Development, Inc. (VDI), the master developer for the 1,100-acre integrated community of residences and businesses within the City of Greenville (known as Verdae), announced today the appointment of Tecumseh “Tee” Hooper, Jr. to its board of directors. Hooper replaces P. Edwin Good, who now serves as chairman of the board for Hollingsworth Funds, Inc., the parent company for VDI.
“Each member of our board is actively engaged in the mission and business activity for this unique project. After an extensive search, we selected a candidate with proven leadership skills, broad management experience in established companies, and a reputation for innovative thinking,” said John C. Cothran, chairman of the board for VDI.
Hooper is the CEO of General Wholesale Distributors, a Trane HVAC distributor in the state of South Carolina. He serves on the board of FGP International Inc., an executive and temporary placement service company; Sign Crafters, USA, a sign manufacturing and service company and Southern First Bank board. Hooper graduated from The Citadel in 1969 with a degree in business administration, and he received a master’s in business administration from the University of South Carolina in 1971. He has served the community as a board member of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce, Camp Greenville, YMCA, The United Way, and as president of the Greenville Urban League. Hooper has also served on the board of directors for Leadership Greenville, Leadership South Carolina, and as chairman of Patriots Point Development Authority in Charleston, and chairman of the South Carolina Department of Transportation. For his work with the Department of Transportation he was awarded the Order of the Palmetto, the highest civilian award given by South Carolina.
“Tee’s experience and entrepreneurial accomplishments will provide additional focus and leadership in making Verdae an exemplary live-work-play community with enduring value,” said Cothran.
