Groundbreaking Ceremony for Camerdown Academy

Construction to begin on school in the new Verdae development off Laurens Road

September 22, 2017 (Greenville, SC) -  Camperdown Academy will hold a groundbreaking ceremony at 1:30pm on September 22 to mark the beginning of construction and to celebrate the enormous community support for its relocation and expansion project. The new school will double the size of the current facility, provide for easier access to the interstate, allow for an expansion of the outreach and training program, and increase capacity for students.

Head of School, Dan Blanch, says “there is an ever-increasing awareness about learning differences and the importance of making sure children aren’t left behind. We learn to read, so that we can read to learn. When that basic educational need is not met, the child, the family, and the community suffer. Camperdown Academy is glad to be part of the solution and grateful for the support that has allowed us to begin construction.”

Camperdown Academy has  provided excellence in the education of dyslexic children for more than 30 years and is one of only nine schools of its kind in the entire country. The non-profit school of need serves dyslexic students in grades one through eight who are unable to succeed in a traditional classroom environment.
