It's a good life for the Harveys.Dave and Peg Harvey left Upstate New York in 2010 and moved to Greenville to begin a new chapter of their fully retired—but extremely active—lives. Golf at The Preserve, hiking, travel and long rides on the motorcycle would be on their daily to-do list, yard work and home maintenance would not.
“We had been to Greenville several times to visit relatives and friends and became quite fond of the area and everything that it has to offer,” stated Dave. “We knew we could be very happy here; so, we set our minds to tackle the task of downsizing and make the move.”
The Harveys setup residence in a condo downtown and got busy enjoying life. “I guess we’d been in town for about six months when my sister and her husband, decided that they wanted to move to Greenville as well. They had become interested in Hollingsworth Park and asked us to ride with them to see the neighborhood one day. None of us realized that Dave and I would find ourselves interested in the community too. Well, long story short, they ended up buying a lot and building house, but not before we bought a townhome.”
Dave and Peg became the first residents of Shadwell Townes. They liked the central location of the planned community and its amenities. “The incredible view of the open greenspace from the front porch of the townhome sparked our interest, but the fact that Shadwell Townes offers a maintenance-free lifestyle is what sold us,” added Peg.
Almost two years at their new address, the Harveys agree that retirement has turned out much like they had envisioned. If they are not out on their front porch or in the garage preparing for a ride on Dave’s motorcycle, you’ll probably find them hiking, biking, walking in Legacy Park, shopping or heading to the airport. They also spend a lot of time on the golf course, making use of their membership at The Preserve at Verdae.
“We’re super busy,” Peg said jokingly. “It’s a wonderful time in our lives, and Dave and I are having loads of fun.”
